About two hours by car. Take the Saw Mill River Parkway to I-684 north, I-84 east to exit 7 at Danbury, then US-7 north and US-202 east through New Milford into Bantam.

An alternative for the east side of the city: I-95 or the Merritt to Route 8 north at Bridgeport, then Route 118 west from Harwinton into Litchfield.

From Boston

About two and a half hours. The Mass Pike to I-84 west toward Hartford, Route 8 north at Waterbury, then Route 118 west into Litchfield and down the hill to Bantam.

From Hartford

About fifty minutes by way of Route 4 through Harwinton or US-202 through Torrington.

By train

Metro-North's Harlem Line runs from Grand Central to Wassaic, about a forty-minute drive from the house. The Waterbury Branch from Grand Central via Bridgeport ends about twenty-five minutes away. A car is needed at either end; rentals and local drivers serve both stations.

By air

Bradley International outside Hartford and Westchester County Airport are each about an hour by car; Tweed New Haven is similar. For private aviation, Waterbury-Oxford Airport is roughly thirty minutes from the door.

A note on the roads

The last miles are country roads. They are plowed and sanded in winter and beautiful in every season; allow a few extra minutes after dark or snow.
